LEANNE MUNIZ, NP
Born in Pennsylvania, I moved to Phoenix in 1986 with my family when my father’s job brought us to the area. I remained in the Phoenix area until graduating high school. At that time I moved to the Prescott area. I continued my education at Yavapai Community College. I obtained certification as an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic and began working for the local ambulance service responding to 911 calls. Very quickly I returned to the classroom to become an Advanced Life Support provider. After several years in this role I decided to again further my education and returned to Yavapai Community College to obtain my Associates Degree in Nursing. During this time I was able to work in the Emergency Department as a Patient Care Tech. Upon graduating with my ADN I was immediately offered a position as an RN in the same department. I remained there for the next 4 years at which time I returned to the Valley of the Sun, again working in the Emergency Department. Once again I returned to school to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree and eventually my Masters of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University.
In total I have spent 13 years working in the Emergency Department. It was here I saw first hand the number of people turning to medications for pain relief and the ill effects associated with them. As a chronic migraine sufferer myself, I understand the need for treatment options that don’t involve taking daily medications and then managing the side effects that are associated with them. For me, this is when I began to seek out other modalities of treatment such as chiropractic, physical therapy and trigger point injections.
Naturally when the opportunity for me to begin working at Arizona Pain Relief presented itself I was overjoyed! I am excited to be a part of a team that helps people on a daily basis to reduce or alleviate their pain and once again regain their quality of life.
